What is the background of the school?
BeeMee is an educational brand that will realise truly internationalized nursery and K12 (ages 1-18) integrated schools established by Hunan Dragon Spruce Education as a key strategic partner introduced from Chaoyang District, Beijing for Changsha.
What kind of school is CBFS?
CBFS is a not-for-profit, full-time private school offering an internationalised education system that will eventually provide bilingual education from nursery to 12th grade that fully incorporates and delivers the Chinese National Curriculum.
What about your claim to be bilingual?
The essence of internationalised education at CBFS is evident in our commitment to allowing students to explore the opportunities open to them in life and to discover their interests, enthusiasms, and talents. We then build a personalised education for each child around that process of self-discovery and support it using our unique mentoring system.
What level will students achieve when they graduate from CBFS?
At CBFS, every class will have a Chinese and an international teacher as well as a bilingual teaching assistant, so every aspect of the curriculum can be taught in Chinese and English. Our aim is that our children will be truly bilingual, able to speak, understand, write, read and think in both Chinese and English. Students are immersed in the pure English learning and living environment created by European and American teachers all the time and will gradually acquire native English proficiency.
What is distinctive about the CBFS Curriculum?
CBFS uses transdisciplinary teaching to combine the interests of each child with the requirements of the CNC so that children become enthusiastic, life-long learners. We base our teaching on a combination of children's interests, the requirements of the Chinese National Curriculum and interdisciplinary teaching.
What curriculum do you use?
CBFS’s curriculum as consisting of three parts: the Core Curriculum is based on the CNC; the Inquiry Curriculum is based upon best international practice and includes the skills of asking questions and exploring answers in a transdisciplinary project-based setting; the third part is the Co-Curricular Activities that develop personal skills and interests and fosters extending the interests of each child through more extensive exposure to certain activities.
What additional courses will you offer that go beyond the normal curriculum?
Yes, CBFS offers many co-curricular activities. For example: design thinking class, educational drama class, golf, tennis, equestrianism, kayaking, rock climbing, fencing, Chinese and Western music, Chinese and Western aesthetics and other areas of interest including acting and dancing.
Is there a school bus transfer at the school？
Changsha BeeMee Forest School is currently providing school bus transfer service, and the school bus route will be optimized according to the pick-up point of the students before the start of each semester to meet the needs of more students as far as possible.
What sort of plan does each lesson follow?
The journey every lesson takes can be represented using The Stretch Cycle. Hunger: we need to learn; Curiosity: we want to learn so we travel to a strange, unfamiliar place; Discovery: we manage to learn in that unfamiliar place and make it more familiar; Experience: we grow through what we have learned and are capable of dealing with new experiences.
How do children progress and learn harder things as they get older?
Children progress well when they are interested in the topic, have a strong understanding of what they already know, and feel confident enough in their learning to explore more difficult ideas.
Is the content of the CBFS curriculum designed to reach the CCS requirements of the CNC?
The content of the CBFS curriculum is broader than the CCS requirements of the CNC in that it also includes valuable ‘soft skills’ such as learning how to learn that are developed through the ways in which the curriculum is delivered, the ethos of the school, and the emphasis on personalised, child-centred learning. These skills help enable students to successfully pursue their own learning long after they have left the school.

The school is a full-time private school approved by the education authority, and has the same student status as public schools, and the student registration belongs to the Yuelu District Education Bureau.
