Passion generates energy

The first task every day in every class for every child at every age is to identify the things that the child is interested in and motivated by. Those passions then fire the engine that generates the energy required for all learning, including things that the child might not at first find appealing. Children inspired by different passions enrich one another, making us stronger together as a community than we are as separate individuals.

Every part of a school should be rich, varied and stimulating

A key element in the discovery of a child’s interests is a rich, varied and stimulating environment, so every BeeMee classroom, playground, library and open space is filled with attractive, colourful, inspiring objects and books that encourage exploration, led by teachers who are themselves passionate lifelong learners, and shared with classmates who bring their own enthusiasms and gifts to the enrichment of all.

Every child is uniquely gifted

Every child develops at different speeds in different ways, has different interests and is good at different things. Schools should adapt to accommodate the uniqueness of every child and help parents to understand the journey each child is making. From their differences children learn to collaborate with others and to value and tolerate those with interests and passions other than their own.

Wise parents do not compare children

Parents want their children to be outstanding and unique, but they worry if their child seems to be at a different stage of development from others. Yet this is normal and inevitable: because children are all different, comparisons between them should not be made. Classrooms should be diverse places full of children with different gifts, each at different stages of their journey. By living and learning together they grow to understand and appreciate the strength that comes from difference. We should let each child “BeeMee”.
